Slegdehammer Games To Develop Modern Warfare 3?
Rumours have it that newly formed Activision developer Sledgehammer Games, are to develop the next installment in Activision's top-selling franchise.
The Silicon Valley based company have hired developers previously involved in successful titles such as Dead Space, Tomb Raider, Soul Reaver, Ratchet and Clank and other well known titles. They are still hiring, and are aiming for developers who has "five years experience working on current AAA multiplayer shooters for current consoles and PC." So it seems very likely that this developer will be taking over the franchise, as Infinity Ward, the developer of blockbuster title Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, are said to already be working on a new IP.
This is all still just rumours and speculation. Nothing is reported confirmed.
If its like what IW did, just develop 1 MW and then claim you spend most time and money on the PC version.. (yeah... to add Keyboard Mouse support, graphics options, and text chat... that probably cost them 50 bucks, and a day of developing).
Every single time i play MW2 i`m going "why oh why dont we have dedicated servers" 3/5 times i try to connect i get an error (cannot connect to host and such) and we dont have admins or votekick to get rid of hackers/cheaters..
MW2.. failure of the year.
-edit and they probably wonder why they didnt win all big awards with best game, best multiplayer, and best story, best action game, best first person shooter..
It's confirmed on their site that they are indeed developing a Call of Duty installment for Activision. Nothing is mentioned of what the new game is titled, nor is any other information available other than a confirmation of a CoD game in development.
Eventually developers are going to be doing 'tours' of modern warfare akin to going to afghanistan and back.
