Moving, Although Not Too Far
We've started discussing and contemplating moving the individual sites of the member clans of The Group Thing, to subdomains under The Group Thing's domain, www.thegroupthing.org.
In effect this means that today's www.connect-gaming.com will be accessed via connectgaming.thegroupthing.org. The same will be applied for all the individual member clan sites of course. What we need to take note of, is that we may move the entire forum to the clan forum in The Group Thing boards, a totally different forum software, and thus shut this forum down.
This is still only under open discussion and planning, so we have no set time span, nor have we looked very much into how we're going to migrate our posts and users successfully and without trouble, to The Group Thing's community.
Your thoughts?

Come together under the TGT umbrella.
Can imagine it will mean lots of work for certain people
Though.
I want us to have an identity outside of tgt
If we just become a subdomain it's basically saying without tgt we wouldn't exist
Might as well leave connect and become generic tgt member instead?
Why rock a stable boat?
And I find myself agreeing with you.
But, we're a little less active these days than we used to be.
The forum is used almost solely by eLuSive, you and I.
Suggestions to up activity and start going strong again?
I mean, before Brink comes out
Though it has been uber quiet of late here
I dont see that moving a forum so its a sub of any site meens a clan must loose its identity, on the contrary I think it only makes that identity stronger.
Everyone with in the TGT group has their own place be it their a connect member or an eQ member the identity is still their, the way the TGT forums are set up shows that.
The biggest issue Iv seen of late and Iv proved this with The Gathering clan is that their are lots of forums with very little users, most have either moved on, got lost during the forum change or cba to troll two forums, TG in all its glory only exists now in name only, I think we only have maybe three or four members who actualy wear the tag and of those maybe two are active in the TGT forums, a similar thing is happening with connect.
The idea to make each clan their own area with in the TGT forums was so the public areas got used more and each clan member could have their say in what happens as well as join in any discussions etc, whats happening or whats been happening since TGT began is most of the clan members have stuck to their own forums and have never been to the TGT forum area.
TGT is the umbrellla for all the clans contained with in and it just makes sence to have one forum where all the clans can interact other wise why have TGT?
Its only the members of each clan that ensure their identity is kept as it is.
If each clan retains its own forums then this raises the question, what should the TGT forum be?
If its not a social area then surley its for information only which tbh no one will ever read as there will be no reason to visit the forum in the first place, not daily anyway.
Ill probably come back and revise what iv written once iv read it
